Student Immersion

Let’s use critical “out of school time” during the summer, weekends, and school breaks to engage students in meaningful applications of their academics.

Immersion programs provide a teacher-led, project-based learning environment which maximizes individual learner potential. Hands-on professional development allows teachers to practice project-based, student-centered instruction in a real classroom environment, so that they are better prepared to apply it in their classroom during  the school year. Alongside, students develop the critical thinking skills, digital and financial literacy, and self-efficacy tools needed to meet the demands of the 21st century.

Engaging Courseware

Our STEAM and Humanities courses place students at the center of a collaborative learning environment. They learn to ask questions and explore the answers through interaction with local organizations. Industry partners expose students to a wide range of career prospects, discuss practicalities and possibilities in the workplace, and challenge their assumptions about the world around them.

Improved Instruction

All immersion programs begin with professional development. Through blended learning and workshops, UrbanX equips educators with an inquiry and project-based framework they can immediately implement in their classrooms. These instructional practices are proven to help empower students to take greater ownership of their learning.

Meet-ups

Saturday workshops provide an opportunity for students and educators to learn together, explore the city, attend engaging workshops, and inspire personal development. Outside of the traditional school structure, each group has the freedom to experience new learning environments. Meet-ups build  community, develop personal networks, and provide college or career support.
