GCE Lab School opened its door with a dream of cultivating global citizens across Chicago’s diverse community of learners.
UrbanX (formerly GCE Foundation) was created to bring our transformational learning model to students in low-resource communities. The 50/50 model was born; 50% of GCE students on need-based scholarships.
GCE Lab School matriculated its first 100% college-bound, cohort; happy students, proud parents. An alternative to traditional high schools began to take shape in Chicago
GCE graduates received an average of $100,000 in merit-aid to a college of their choice. UrbanX piloted summer programs with Chicago International Charter Schools (CICS). Pilot programs left teachers and students engaged and inspired.
GCE graduate won the coveted POSSE scholarship; first in her family to go to college. UrbanX sponsored summer immersions for 6 public schools All GCE graduates to-date enjoy post-secondary success.
GCE graduates win two POSSE scholarships; Dyson Foundation funds GCE Design Lab. UrbanX sponsors summer programs for 20 educators and 152 students. GCE and summer programs provide proof of concept for the learning model.
GCE’s first college-bound cohort graduates, with 2 entrepreneurs. UrbanX raises over $500,000 in scholarships for low-resource students. GCE’s breakthrough innovations are documented and ready to scale.
